Facial Artery Myomucosal Flap vs. Islanded Facial Artery Myomucosal Flap Viability: A Systematic Review

چکیده
The aim of this study was to estimate the overall viability islanded facial artery myomucosal flap (iFAMM) compared (FAMM). A systematic review English articles performed on PubMed and Cochrane Library electronic databases. Search terms included every nomenclature variant for FAMM iFAMM flap. total 373 were identified, 20 considered eligible inclusion in review. 486 flaps evaluated (350 136 i-FAMM flaps). In all studies, primary outcome assessed viability, collecting rate partial necrosis then comparing i-FAMM. Overall reported partial/total 9.7%, 1.4% as 8.3% necrosis. 2.2%, 1.5% 0.7% flaps, both classical or variants, are an effective option intraoral small/medium sized defect reconstruction. Outcomes from present show a higher survival when is harvested

Versatility of the facial artery myomucosal island flap in neopharyngeal reconstruction.
BACKGROUND The facial artery myomucosal (FAMM) island flap is a cheek flap, pedicled on the facial artery and suitable for small to medium-sized reconstructions of the oral cavity and neighboring areas. A novel transposition of the flap to the hypopharynx after laryngectomy is presented in this report. METHODS A 58-year-old man, previously irradiated, was laryngopharyngectomized because of a ...
متن کاملClinical Application of Foci Contralateral Facial Artery Myomucosal Flap for Tongue Defect Repair
This study aims to investigate the clinical efficacy of foci contralateral facial artery myomucosal flap (FAMF) in repairing the defect of tongue after tumor resection. There were 10 cases who received the operation to repair tongue tissue defects caused by tumor resection from January 2010 to January 2016. FAMF flap size ranged from 2.5 × 3 cm to 5 × 5 cm. All flaps survived after surgery, and...
متن کاملFlap necrosis after palatoplasty in irradiated patient and its reconstruction with tunnelized-facial artery myomucosal island flap
BACKGROUND Tunneled transposition of the facial artery myomucosal (FAMM) island flap on the lingual side of the mandible has been reported for intraoral as well as oropharyngeal reconstruction. This modified technique overcomes the limitations of short range and dentition and further confirms the flexibility of the flap. This paper presents a case of reconstructing secondary soft palatal defect...
متن کاملRandom Pattern Vertically Oriented, Partial Thickness Buccinator Myomucosal Flap for Intraoral Reconstruction: A Report of Two Cases
Introduction: Reconstruction of the oral cavity witha flap design containing the buccal mucosa and buccinator muscle but excluding the facial artery and vein is the topic of these case reports. Case Reports: This article uses random pattern vertically oriented partial thickness buccinator myomucosal flap for intraoral reconstruction in two cases. The first was for lining the mandibular anterior...
متن کاملFacial artery musculomucosal flap in head and neck reconstruction: A systematic review.
BACKGROUND The facial artery musculomucosal (FAMM) flap has emerged as a popular option in head and neck reconstruction in the last decade. The purpose of this study was to conduct a literature review of the FAMM flap. METHODS We have conducted a search on PubMed using specific key words to identify all articles related to the FAMM flap. We reviewed the modifications of the FAMM flap, its ind...
